• Offshore (Federal Waters): June to October (Argentina's winter/spring).
• Inshore (Provincial Waters): October/November to May/March (Argentina's summer/autumn).
Why the Split Season?
• Migration: The shrimp migrate to deeper, cooler offshore waters during the winter/spring (June-October) for spawning and feeding, while they are in shallower, warmer inshore areas during the summer/autumn.
• Fleet Activity: Smaller boats focus on the inshore season, while larger freezer fleets operate offshore during the colder months, accounting for about 70% of the total catch.
